Transgender Teens on the Autism Spectrum

This workshop explores people on the autistic spectrum have been noted to have a higher rate of gender variance when compared to those who are not on the autistic spectrum. Broadening the dominant neurotypical (aka not on the autism spectrum) hold on thinking about aspects of gender identity this workshop will be serve as an opportunity to examine the intersectionality of gender identity and autism. Special attention will be paid to the lived experience of people who have been diagnosed as being on the autism disorder spectrum (ASD) and identify as transgender, gender fluid, and/or gender non-binary. Suggestions will be made for best practices when working with this population and their families.

David B Wohlsifer David B. Wohlsifer, PhD, LCSW, is a Clinical Instructor on the full-time faculty at Florida Atlantic University, Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work, as well as the co-owner and co-founder of the Boca Raton Center for Psychotherapy. He is an LCSW (FL & PA), FL certified sex therapist, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, Florida Certified Clinical Supervisor, Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and has over 25 years of experience in clinical practice. He  works extensively with transgender/gender variant youth and their families as well as people on the ASD spectrum.  His practice also focuses on couple and family, sex therapy, and CBT


  Advanced Topics in Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy

This presentation will cover considerations when choosing between the various formulations of gender-affirming estrogen and testosterone, as well as an in-depth, evidence-based discussion on additional medication options and indications for their use, including long-acting testosterone, progesterone, and various androgen-blocking medications. 

Julie joined Fenway Health in 2010 as a primary care provider and specializes in LGBTQ health, high - resolution anoscopy, and is an HIV Specialist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine.  In 2018 she was named Medical Director of the Trans Health Program, previously serving as Co-Director since 2016, and works to guide Fenway's multidisciplinary team approach to provide high-quality,informed care to the gender diverse community.  Julie has given talks and trainings on various trans health topics around the country for the National LGBTQIA+Health Education Center, and she is also core facility on TransECHO and TransLine, both of which are transgender medical consultative services for health care providers across the country.


Primary Care - The Providers Role in Transgender Healthcare

Transgender people have unsatisfactory and negative experiences of medical care.  For many people the only things that get discussed are hormone therapy and mental health.  Basic primary care often goes unaddressed.  Today we will talk about the major primary care issues of specific concern for transgender people and the things they should be sure get addressed by their providers                              

Dr. Howard Alan Grossman is an Internal Medicine Specialist in Wilton Manors, Florida. He graduated with honors from State University Of New York Downstate Medical Center in 1983. Having more than 36 years of diverse experiences, especially in INTERNAL MEDICINE, Dr. Howard Grossman is an internist in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Broward Health Medical Center and Holy Cross Hospital-Fort Lauderdale. He received his medical degree from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years.

Gender is ......Exploring the complexities of gender-breaking tradition

This workshop explores nouns and pronouns, aligning self identified gender expression and self identification in todays times. Existing beyond a binary....what is Binary - Non-Binary?

Dr.Volker is a sexuality educator for over 38 years. a Diplomat of the American Board of Sexology, American Academy of Clinical Sexologists, International Transgender Certification Association and International Institute of Clinical Sexology. She is adjunct faculty of three South Florida Universities-University of Miami, Florida International University and St. Thomas University.  Dr Volker has served as sexuality consultant for a variety of addiction /trauma treatment facilities state and nationwide and has written many articles for publications addressing sexuality issues in recovery.  Dr. Volker helped to establish ITCA International Transgender Certification Association , which provides certification in counseling transgender individuals/family members. She has appeared on many National and  international on TV programs including Larry King Live, 20/20, among others.


Sexual Health Screening for Trans and Gender Diverse People

This workshop focuses on sexual health as being an important part of a routine medical exam or physical history for all patients, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. the presentation will discuss best practices on how providers should collect a sexual health history from transgender and gender nonbinary individuals.

Dr. Asa Radix is the Senior Director of Research and Education at the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center in New York and a clinical associate professor of medicine at NYU.  Asa is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease and completed postgraduate training in public health and epidemiology. Asa has over 20 years experience providing care to trans and gender diverse people and is the Co-Chair of the WPATH (World Professional Association of Transgender health) Standards of Care 8 Revision committee. Asa’s research focuses on LGBT health, STI/HIV risk and HIV prevention


Gender Dysphoria in Pediatrics
