  • Understand the general framework for a trauma-informed approach to cinical work with transgender survivors of sexual trauma and intimate partner violence.

  • Understand the specific challenges for clinicians related o the intersections of transphobia, toxic masculinity,misogyny and rape culture as they manifest in the lives of trans survivors.

  • Understand the trans-competency and social -justice based framework for critically analyzing existing resources for sexual violence survivors.

SUPPORTING THE FAMILIES AND SIGNIFICANT OTHERS OF TRANSGENDER AND GENDER NON CONFORMING ADULTS, ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN 

James Lopresti, PhD, LMHC (moderator)-Panel of parents, significant others of transgender an gender binary adults,youth and children from SOFFA and Different Drummer family groups.

  • Understand the key markers on the road to acceptance for families of the transgender person travers.

  • Identify methods for developing a structure that works for these family members.

  • Understand unique perspective of partners and spouses in relationships with transgender loved ones.

  • Identify methods used by families to negotiate gender presentation with their children while becoming an advocate for them in schools, etc.

CARING FOR “GENDER CREATIVE” AND TRANSGENDER YOUTH 

  • Understand gender differences in a spectrum as experienced by.

  • Identify key self-understandings appropriated by gender non-conforming young persons.

  • Identify key challenges and workable strategies with gender non-conforming and transgender youth and their families.

 

Each of these events has been approved (at 1 CEU per hour) by the Florida Board of Clinical Social work, Marriage,Family Therapy and mental Health Counseling (exp 2021)  The Florida Board of Psychology (exp 5/20/20) and the Florida Board of Nursing (exp 10/20/20) Sunserve is CEBroker Provider #50-5251
